New Nissan Xmotion Concept Could Offer Seattle Amazing Interior Design

Today, Nissan took the wraps off their incredible new Xmotion crossover concept at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The forward-thinking compact SUV offers an amazing fusion of Japanese and American craftsmanship on the interior, and we’d be remiss not to detail it in full.

The cabin was built based on the imagery of a river. The center console area acts as the “bridge” over it, offering the allure of the Japanese architectural wood joinery practice, 
kanawa tsugi, which is most often featured in religious shrines of that country. The Xmotion’s instrument panel continues that design in what Nissan considers a “robust bone structure” that exudes strength. It's something wholly different than what you see in today's Rogue, for example.


More concretely, there’s a ton of technology to appreciate in the Xmotion concept. There are seven total displays throughout the dash that offer vehicle settings and information. Notably, each can be controlled through voice commands, gestures, and even eye movements—quite the user interface revolution! There’s also a “digital room mirror” on the ceiling that Nissan has yet to expound upon in detail.
